The new season of “The Haunting of Hill House” will be scarier than the last

Like the first season of the series, the source material for the second installment takes place almost entirely in an old mansion in the countryside. It is there where two young orphans are taken care of by a young governess.

After the success of The Haunting of Hill House, creator Mike Flanagan will return with The Curse of Bly Manor, a second installment based on the novel ‘Another twist’ by Henry James and which, in Flanagan’s words, promises to be even more scary than the first season.

“For Henry James fans it will be quite wild and for people who are not familiar with their work, it will be incredibly scary,” Flanagan said in an interview. “I think it’s much scarier than the first season, so I’m very excited about that.”

However, the series will not be a literal adaptation, but will also include elements from other works by James.

“We are seeing all the ghost stories of Henry James as the starting point of the season, so it is a completely new project,”

Flanagan said. “It’s a great way to expand some of the things I loved about the first season, but within the framework of a new story, without having to restrict it by the decisions we made last time.”

In addition to Flanagan, actors Victoria Pedretti and Oliver Jackson-Cohen will also be back, who will play completely new characters.

At the moment the release date of the new installment is not known, but before it reaches Netflix, Flanagan will be in the movie theaters with Doctor Sleep, an adaptation of Stephen King that will be released next October.
