Ohio has one of the most mesmerizing castles ever but believe it or not, it’s haunted!

“The Sweetheart of Ohio” is the nickname that was given to one of the ancient, astonishing architectural pieces from Ohio but you may also know it as the Chateau LaRoche or the Loveland Castle.

The Chateau LaRoche can be found in southern Ohio, along the Little Miami River in the city of Loveland. Without a doubt, one can say that this castle is truly beautiful and charming, but what very little people know is the dark story behind the man who built it.

Harry Delos Andrews, a clever man with many talents until he, unfortunately, caught a infection that removed lives of 7000 people back in the 1890s. When studying his body in the morgue which had been lying there for two days, doctors found something unusual. When trying to collect bacterial samples from his mouth, Andrew’s body began to bleed and doctors decided to inject his heart with some adrenaline, and Harry Andrews was back from death.

The possibilities for him to go on with life were almost non-existent, he was blind and paralyzed. However, he challenged the laws of medicine, being able to recuperate and go on with his life. After the unexpected incident, Andrews settled as a medic at the Château LaRoche, in France, where he began to develop an affinity for knights and the medieval world to the point where he formed a group of young men called the Knights of the Golden Trail.

All young men who decided to join this group were connected by an oath, which was to restore the nobility and civility into modern society, the same way that past knights from medieval times used to do. Sir Harry, was so committed to the Knights of the Golden Trail, that he felt the need to build a castle for them, and so it began.

During the late 1920s, he acquired a piece of land and began to work on what years later would become the Château LaRoche in Ohio. For over 20 years he committed to the construction of this castle, Andrews used to carry stones from the Little Miami almost every day with a vision to create a magnificent castle.

But then, what’s so dark about all of this? Sir Harry believed that this castle was heavily haunted by several spirits… One of them, a knight who was deeply attached to one of the medieval artifacts displayed in the Château LaRoche and this ghost would come at night from time to time.

Also, a paranormal presence that Andrews used to call “Casper Poltergeist” was responsible for slamming doors, moving objects and if it was troubled by people it would even strike them with an electric jolt sensation.

Andrews also mentioned the ghosts of two children who passed away in the property before he became the owner, so not even the castle is haunted but also some of the surroundings. Some fanatics of paranormal phenomenons were attracted to this area, trying to communicate with these spirits they confirmed that the ghosts of a 13-year-old boy and his 7-year-old sister, were still around.

Despite it all, we gave to admit that the Château LaRoche is an amazing looking castle filled with history… What do you think? do you believe it is actually haunted?
