The Conjuring 3 Release Date Gets Delayed? What We Know So Far

If you are a horror lover, you most likely have watched the entire The Conjuring Universe and you are definitely ready to watch The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It soon. So here are everything we know about the upcoming movie before its release.

Also known as The Conjuring 3, it’s a supernatural horror film that will serve as a sequel to 2013’s The Conjuring and 2016’s The Conjuring 2, and as the eighth installment overall in the Conjuring Universe franchise.

Premise

The premise is based on the trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, also known as the “Devil Made Me Do It” case. This is one of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with the story of David Glatzel, a young boy was possessed by a demon so the family summoned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren to assist him.

After performing exorcism on David, it is said that a demon fled the child’s body and took up residence within Johnson who later would remove the life of his landlord. His case marked the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense.

Cast

As for some of the main cast, Ruairi O’Connor will be playing Arne Cheyenne Johnson, Sarah Catherine Hook as Debbie Glatzel, Julian Hilliard as David Glatzel, and of course, Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson will come back as paranormal researchers Lorraine and Ed Warren.

Production

Director Michael Chaves (The Curse of La Llorona, 2019) was welcomed to work on this project after James Wan, who directed the previous two movies, stated that he wouldn’t be able to direct the film due to his commitments to other projects. However, Wan remained closely involved as producer.

According to THR Wan expressed in a statement about Chaves joining The Conjuring Universe, “While working closely with Chaves on ‘The Curse of La Llorona,’ I got to know him as a filmmaker. Chaves’ ability to bring emotion to a story, and his understanding of mood and scares, make him a perfect fit to direct the next Conjuring film. […] I’m excited to be back as producer and continue with Vera and Patrick on the next supernatural adventure of the Warrens.”

On the other hand, Chaves once expressed, “I am a huge fan of the Conjuring films. The movies are the rare combination that delivers both tremendous heart and awesome scares. It is both a total thrill and absolute honor to be working with James and the gang at New Line again”.

Release date

The film will be distributed by Warner Bros Pictures and New Line Cinema and while it is scheduled to premiere next September 11th, according to Variety, the horror film was delayed to June 4th, 2021 due to the spreading of coronavirus outbreak.

Most movie and television projects that were scheduled through this year, has been stopped or postponed since the global pandemic situation has brought the entire entertainment industry to a standstill.

While most sources are still counting on the movie to be released next month, it doesn’t even have an official trailer yet. So whether the release may actually get delayed -as reported- or not, the only thing to do is to wait for more information about its premiere.
