The French government will grant cats and dogs the rights of a living being

We all know the laws that currently exist regarding the issue of animal rights and animal abuse, are not as efficient as they should be. If they were truly effective, the cases in which the animals are involved would include much more severe sentences than they do.

In fact, although laws are currently being modified, there are still certain sections in which it suggests that animals are objects and not living beings, something totally illogical from our perspective.

Fortunately, the governments of many countries are slowly becoming aware of the issue and are beginning to modify legislation for the benefit of animals. This is one more step for animals to be recognized little by little for what they are, for living beings who have feelings and must have their rights.

A country that has recently joined the change of its laws is France. In this country, animals are no longer considered objects and the government has established new rights for them. Thanks to this great decision, it becomes easier for people to report cases of animal abuse and it also serves as a great support in divorce proceedings where the custody of a couple’s pets is arranged.

All this mater began with the National Assembly, they were the ones who started carrying out long campaigns related to animal rights. Even so, these agreements are not yet fully in force as the Senate needs to approve them and make the dream of thousands of animal lovers come true. Once the Senate has executed these new reforms, animal rights will be improved to the point of having the rights of living beings.

This amazing change in the laws will not only have a great improvement in the face of animal rights but also will have more severe penalties for those who are participants in animal abuse

It was a protective society that proposed the idea to the French government. The group is led by Reha Hutin, and their association is called 30 Million Friends (30 Millions d’Amis in French). They were responsible for launching the petition and telling the government how unacceptable it is that domestic animals are still considered objects or something immaterial.

Great news are being delivered when knowing that little by little, countries are making small changes in order to get animals to be treated as they are, living beings that have feelings and are capable of suffering.
