‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Is Having A New Series On Amazon

The famous scary film franchise is coming back with a series adaptation on Amazon Prime. Plans to develop the series was first reported last year and will work as a modern take on the hit 1997 horror film.

The film was based on the 1973 novel of the same name by Lois Duncan that tells the story of a group of teenagers find themselves being stalked by a mysterious figure with a hook, one year after a fatal accident on their graduation night.

It starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr. and grossed $125 million worldwide.

THR reported that the new show will share a premise with the movie, but with a modern spin on the material.

Gossip Girl‘s Sara Goodman will be the one writing and executive producing the new series, which comes from Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures TV.

“The best horror franchises always have another scare coming, and this ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ series from Sara Goodman is a perfectly twisted update to the iconic slasher movie,” said Albert Cheng, COO and co-head of television for Amazon Studios. “Any way you slice it, our global Prime Video customers will love this modern take on the fan favorite film.”

Along with Goodman, executive producers are Shay Hatten, Original Film’s Moritz and Pavun Shetty, Erik Feig and Atomic Monster’s James Wan, Rob Hackett and Michael Clear.

“We are thrilled to have ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ with our incredible partners at Amazon Studios,” said Jason Clodfelter, co-president of Sony Pictures Television Studios. “Neal Moritz and Original Films’ development consistently fires on all cylinders and that is proven once again with Sara Goodman’s contemporary and pulsating character weaving suspense thriller.”

Have You Ever Experienced The Mandela Effect?

There’s an unexplained phenomenon that you’ve probably experienced without knowing what it’s called. But those curious instances in which many of us are certain we remember something in a particular way, but it turns is not like that, then you are experiencing what’s known as the Mandela Effect.

The name derives from the popular belief that Nelson Mandela died in the 1980s in prision after 27 years. The truth is that he died in 2013 and was also the president of South africa between 1994 and 1999. This was because a self-proclaimed “paranormal consultant” described how she remembered Nelson´s dead in prision, and all the media effect that came by it. However, none of it happened. Short after, she discovered other people remembered the same thing as she did.

This effect occurs when a large group of people believe that something happened in a certain way when it did not.

You can also create false memories for yourself or create a fake sequence of events with your group of friends or any social group, most likely because they fill gaps of memory with things they “remind” occurring it at that time. Like a famous dictator once said: “If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently, it will be believed”.

An example of the Mandela effect is with the most famous quote in “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” film. A lot of people are certain that the phrase goes “Luke, I am your father”, however, Darth Vader actually says, “I am your father.”

Some people believe that these false memories come from having a bad memory, others considered is related to time traveling or a parallel universe. There are many examples in the entertainment media that can cause this effect, either logos, posters, quotes…

Like, just imaging yourself trying to remember an old memory because you are going to use that idea that was on your brain. While bringing back that memory and using that idea in a conversation, you make changes to that memory with new information and then you put it back into your memories. Next time, you’ll probably going to remember that old memory in a different way as time passes by. So you’ll be experiencing the Mandela Effect.

The Witches Starring Anne Hathaway Has Now An Official Trailer And Release Date

Witches are real! That’s what the upcoming remake of ‘The Witches’ promises as it has now an official trailer and release date and it’ll arrive sooner than expected.

The Witches

It was announced last year that one of our favorite childhood scary movies was getting a reboot, which we couldn’t be more excited about, The Witches.

Based on the book of the same title by British writer Roald Dahl, the first adaptation movie tells us the story of Luke Eveshim, a young boy who goes on vacation in Norway with his grandmother Helga. She warns him about witches and how to recognize them as she recalls  her childhood friend Erica was victim of a evil witch and got cursed to live inside a painting for the rest of her life.

A convention of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children will be taking place at the hotel, but in fact, it’s a coven full of horripilant witches. Their powerful leader known as the Grand High Witch is there to unveil her new master plan, a magic potion that turns children into mice so parent can exterminate them and do the witches’ dirty work for them.

Luke together with his new friend Bruno, will try to stop the witches even if they have to fight them as mice.

The film was released in 1990, the year when writer Roald Dahl passed away. And even though the movie wasn’t a massive success on the big screen, it sure gained a cult following throughout the years.

The Witches Remake

Now the remake is starring Oscar winner Anne Hathaway who will follow in the footsteps of Anjelica Huston to star in her role as the new Grand High Witch. The cast also includes Kristin Chenoweth, Stanley Tucci as the hotel manager unwittingly hosting the witches’ convention; and the voice of Chris Rock as the grown-up version of the boy who recounts the dale.

The film is directed by Robert Zemeckis, known for films such as “Back to the Future” (1985) and “Monster House” (2006) working together with  Guillermo del Toro “Pan’s Labyrinth” (2006),  Alfonso Cuarón “Gravity” (2013) and Kenya Barris “Black-ish” (2014).

In the original movie, it had a different ending than Dahl’s children book. However, Zemeckis described the new film adaptation as being closer to the novel but only with a little twist. He told French website Allocine, “We’re going to set it in the Gothic South in the 1960s. It’s an exciting way to put a sociological spin on this kind of witch story.”

A supposed official movie poster was leaked on Reddit not so long ago which caused a lot of expectation for this upcoming project.

However, the official HBO MAX account released the oficial poster which was in fact, like the one that got leaked before but now with an updated information for this project.

As a further treat, the studio released a batch of first-look images of the cast.

In this picture, Eugenia Caruso as Conseulla, Penny Lisle as Witch, Josette Simon as Zelda, Anne Hathaway as the Grand High Witch, Orla O’Rourke as Saoirse and Ana-Maria Maskell as Esmerelda.

A first trailer was also launched today in which we get a few glances of how wickedly funny this project is going to be.

The film will be available on HBO Max on October 22, just in time for Halloween!

The Different Types Of Ghosts That Might Be Haunting You

Have you ever heard noises in the middle of the night, felt that you were being observed or experienced things that were out of your understanding? While you might not be scared -depending on the situation- though, you most likely will feel curiosity or try to look for logical explanations as to what you saw, heard, or felt.

It may be that those things happening around you, are related to ghosts. If you feel something brush your arm, hear whispers, see a figure in the corner of your eye, or an object moves by itself, it’s usually the ghost trying to communicate.

However, not all ghosts are the same as there’s a variety of them with different characteristics. Here’s a list of ghosts and how to spot or recognize them.

Poltergeist

A classic one. This type of ghost has the ability to move things, make noises or manipulate the environment. Mostly seen in movies. It is known for being noisy and annoying. You can recognize them for making the lights flick or slamming doors.

Ectoplasm

It has the consistent of fog or a vaporous cloud. Always swirling several feet above the ground and moves very quickly. Usually you can find them outdoors in historical sites.

Orbs

They are like a transparent ball of light that hovers over the ground. This type of ghost is commonly captured on camara. They are believed to be souls of human beings or even animals that passed away so suddenly.

Funnel Ghost

Interactive Personality

Any deceased person that used to live in the house, someone from your family or maybe an importan historical figure. They can show themselves in different ways as making noises, slightly touching you, whispering things around you or even emitting certain smells. They are really interesting as they retain the personality they had when they were alive and mostly their souls are still here because they didn’t fullfill a goal, purpose or had a closure.

Shadow People

Whenever we feel someone is watching us or is standing behind us because we see a shadow out of the corner of the eye but once we look back, there’s nothing so we just shrug it off and go back to business, it’s possible that what you saw it was actually what you thought.

That’s why this type of a ghost is called like that, because is in the shape of a figure or a person but don’t have any human-like features such as hair or a nose. If you want to learn more about shadow people, we made this article specially for you.

Demons

They are the most sinister and evil type of ghost as they can haunt your house, your possessions, and your being. They can cause you immense emotional, psychological and even physical harm.

This New Horror Film Is Said To Follow The Steps Of Jordan Peele’s Get Out

“His House” is a 2020 thriller film written and directed by Remi Weekes that had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 27, 2020.

It tells the story of a couple of young immigrants from South Sudan trying to make a home after resettling as asylum seekers in the United Kingdom.

His House’s synopsis reads as follows: After making a harrowing escape from war-torn South Sudan, a young refugee couple struggle to adjust to their new life in a small English town that has an unspeakable evil lurking beneath the surface.

A first trailer has been released by Netflix and emphasizes how the couple is struggling to fit into their new neighborhood and how they’re treated differently in the first-world country they refugee themselves in. The caseworker states that they will be happy if they just prove themselves to be “…one of the good ones.” It also displays how in their new place resides something evil trying to come out of the dry walls of the house.

This will be Weekes’ debut feature film and stars Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù,  (Gangs of London) Wunmi Mosaku, (Lovecraft Country) and Matt Smith (The Crown). Javier Botet (It: Chapter 2) and Emily Taaffe (Ripper Street) are also part of the cast in this movie.

The film is being compared to the outstanding works of Jordan Peele like “Get Out” and “Us”, by delivering a well-crafted horror movie but that stresses issues of race and cultural which are necessary and timely topics at the present moment.

“Unlike traditional haunted house stories where the protagonist might be able to escape, our protagonists–two displaced asylum seekers–do not have the privilege to simply leave,” he explained. “Rather, they are stuck having to survive within their house. This is often the case in the U.K., where asylum seekers have to follow draconian rules when given accommodation. This is also often the case with trauma–you’re stuck having to find ways to survive your grief, and finding ways to heal within it.” said the director during a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.

‘His House’ will premiere in the streaming platform in October 30.

Mirrors: Portals To The Unknown?

Have you ever stared at a mirror long enough for it to be uncomfortable? Have you ever imagined yourself going inside the mirror as if crossing a portal to another dimension?

Over the years many cultures have believed that mirrors are actually that, portals to another world or have a special connection to the afterlife. For example, Romans used to think that mirrors were a reflection of the human soul and for that, should be treated with respect.

In other times, there was this supposition that a human’s soul could be stolen or caught when taking a picture which is basically the same premise with the mirrors because pictures are, in a simplify manner, a reflection.

There was also this strong superstition centuries ago, in which people would cover all the mirrors in a house were a dying person was having its final moments because people believed you could see the devil or death itself coming to take away the soul through the mirrors. Even was thought that the personification of death could get confused and go through the mirror instead of going back to the afterlife.

Victorians used to cover with black cloths the mirrors in the house of a newly deceased person because of their strong belief in spiritualism and to protect the relatives.

A popular believe in most recent times is that if you break a mirror, you’ll face 7 years of bad luck.

Though, there are also some stories and games related to mirrors just like the one from Bloody Mary. Here is a short list of a few games you can try with any mirror you own.

1. The Three Kings
2. Dark Reflection Ritual
3. The Devil Game
4. Lady Spades
5. Waiting for Godot
6. The Mirror Box

But be careful if you try any of those, because you could face bad consequences. Remember what Nietzsche once said: “If you stare long enough into the abyss, the abyss will stare back at you”.

Will you try the games?

Netflix Is Gearing Up For A Sinister Halloween With This Upcoming Horror Movie

As we are approaching October, Netflix is getting ready for the spooky season with new horror movies and series. This time, it just released the trailer for a new Norwegian horror movie coming to the streaming platform this month, Kadaver.

The film is directed and written by Jarand Herdal and the story is set in the aftermath of a nuclear disaster,  leaving survivors without resources. Suddenly a charitable event will take place in a hotel to help those in need. That’s when Leonora (Gitte Witt), her husband Jacob (Thomas Gullestad) and their daughter Alice (Tuva Olivia Remman) accept the invitation.

The hotel’s director Mathias (Thorbjørn Harr) presents the entire hotel to them as the setting for a theater. Attendees are given masks to distinguish them from the actors, but things start to get weird as some members of the audience starts to disappear.

It all seems to be part of the show, though, when Alice disappears right in front of Leonora and Jacob, it becomes clear that things are not what they seem and that accepting the invitation they received might not have been a good idea.

It is a twisted story about survival, despair, hunger and immorality in a world without rules, presented through a gloomy spectacle.

The cast includes as mentioned early, Gitte Witt  (The impossible), Thorbjørn Harr (Vikings, July 22), Thomas Gullestad (The 12th Man) and Kingsford Siayor, known from Norwegian Netflix original ‘Home for Christmas’ as well as Maria Grazia De Meo (Kathrine), Trine Wiggen (Rakel), Bente Børsum (Vivian), Jonathan Rodriguez (David), Stig Frode Henriksen (Hans) and Helge Jordal (Ticketmaster).

Kadaver is being compared ‘Eyes Wide Shut‘ (1999) by Stanley Kubrick as for the masks, the dark colors of the hotel and even the soundtrack that we hear in the new trailer.

The film’s dark style has also been compared to ‘The Platform’ (2019), which is set in a futuristic world where the main message is a critique to both capitalism and socialist systems as the residents have to learn about a fair distribution of wealth under the worst circumstances in which hunger, despair and power talks for themselves.

The film is produced by Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud from Motion Blur Films and it will be launched globally on October 22.

Volume 2 Of Unsolved Mysteries Season 1 Is Coming To Netflix Next Month

From UFOs, ghosts, to true unresolved crimes, Netflix revived the mystery documentary television show, created by John Cosgrove and Terry Dunn Meurer, Unsolved Mysteries. The reboot premiered on July 1, 2020.

Since its release, the series received a great acceptance in multiple countries including the United States, Australia, Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

In August, Netflix confirmed via Twitter a ‘Volume 2’, featuring six more episodes which are part of Season 1 in a small font near the center of the image, marking October 19 as the official release date.

After the show’s creators expressed interest in reviving the series, Meurer mentioned that releasing the show on Netflix was the best decision due to the global audience that the platform comes along with.

We had meetings with networks along the way but nothing felt like the right fit,” he said said in an interview with the New York Post.Netflix is the perfect place—we can produce international stories and can also reach out to a worldwide audience to try and solve mysteries in different countries.”

The show used to have a narrator/host for every story. This time, it was decided to not have one for the reboot and instead opting to go with a more traditional documentary format.  This was mainly due to Robert Stack, the host most attributed with the original series. “We decided it was really tough to fill Robert Stack’s shoes,” Meurer told the Post. “He was an iconic host for so many years.”

Another reason for this decision was that they were looking for the people involved in these episodes to be more present. “We wanted this be in the documentary world, where the people whose mysteries these episodes involve are more present and more of the storytellers,” he said. “In addition to interviewing family members and law enforcement, we go on location to get more of a sense of each case. We don’t try to come down on one point of view and try to create as balanced a story as we can.”

While a second season hasn’t been confirmed, the show was around the top 10 list around the world and stayed in #1 for many weeks so we can definitely expect a new season coming into the streaming platform sometime in the future . As for now, we can enjoy six intriguing new episodes coming in October 19.
